Recreational Marijuana Questions & Answers For Tourists

For our visiting friends who enjoy marijuana, the long awaited day is upon you. As of July 1st, 2017, those ages 21+ will legally be able to walk in to one of our many existing marijuana dispensaries and purchase up to an ounce of whatever strain(s) your recreational heart desires.

And since we at LasVegasNightclubs.com have the pleasure of serving a million or so readers a year from outside of Las Vegas (humble brag), we figured it worthwhile to answer some of your inevitable questions before they start coming in (ok, that’s a lie, they’ve already started coming in).

Q & A | Recreational Weed As A Tourist:

How much weed can I buy?

You can buy up to 1 ounce of weed per day. Which, by anyone’s count, is a hell of a lot of weed for one person to smoke in a day.

Do you have to be a Nevada resident to purchase marijuana at a dispensary?

No. You just need a valid government-issued ID proving you’re over 21.

Can I bring weed with me and / or take it home outside of Nevada?

No and No. It is illegal to cross Nevada state lines with marijuana, so, legally, you’ll have to partake everything you purchase while you’re here.

Can I smoke in nightclubs or casinos?

No. You can only legally smoke weed in a private residence, which automatically rules out everywhere else, including bars, casinos, nightclubs, parks, and, well, you get the idea.

As a tourist, this will create a conundrum for you as you won’t legally be able to smoke it in your hotel or in basically any of the places you’re likely to be while in Las Vegas. You’re on your own on that one.

Can I drive with marijuana in my car?

Yes, but you can’t be using it. Any trace of it in your system is considered a DUI. The law states you can possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana flowers or 1/8 ounce of concentrates.

Can I fly with marijuana?

This goes back to the whole can’t cross state lines thing. So unless you’re flying around Nevada, you can’t legally fly with marijuana.

Shit, can I mail it home?

Marijuana is still federally illegal and even the likes of Fed Ex, UPS, and DHL expressly prohibit you placing it in their delivery care.

Where can I buy it?
